The Network of European Museum Organizations (NEMO), which gathers over 30,000 museums from 43 countries across Europe, held the 2019 edition of the European Museum Conference between the 7th and the 10th of November in Tartu (Estonia) on the theme “Museums 2030: Sharing recipes for a better future” project.

The conference explored how museums can contribute to a better future through its involvement in the UN 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event was structured in plenary sessions and workshops to address key issues and share best practices on this central theme.

Mercedes Giovinazzo, Director of Interarts, participated in the session “The UN Sustainable Development Goals: translating the museums’ role from the political to the work context”. She emphasized the importance of making culture visible at political level with regards to the SDGs, and encouraged museums to work together to achieve a greater impact on and contribution to the European values and goals.
