The closing ceremony of REC 2016, a project that has aimed to strengthen social and community links with positive youth empowerment through music, was held at the Caixa Forum headquarters in Gerona on 30 November. REC 2016 ran in the town of Salt, Gerona, fostering active participation and cooperation among the young people involved in the project as well as a non-hierarchical learning model. Some of the outcomes of REC 2016 are two musical compositions, created entirely (lyrics, performance and recording) by young participants. On the topics ‘being young’ and ‘the REC Project’, the creations were presented at this event, which was attended by representatives of all organisations that have undertaken this initiative: Associació Arrels Urbanes; ConArte Internacional; UNESCO Chair in Cultural Policies, University of Girona; and Interarts. Salt Town Council and Casa de la Música Gironès have supported REC 2016, which also received funding from the Social Initiative Grants Programme Obra Social ”la Caixa”.
