The kick-off meeting of the project ‘DECIDES Europe: Preventing Gender-Based Violence, the Youth’s Outlook’ – a project co-funded by the European Union- was held on the 22nd and 23rd of November 2018 at the headquarters of Interarts in Barcelona. The meeting allowed the project consortium to detail the working strategy and calendar of this 2-year project. The ‘DECIDES Europe’ project seeks to contribute to the prevention of gender-based violence (GBV) by improving awareness of young people about all forms of GBV, its causes, consequences and providing tools to prevent, recognize and counter it in three multicultural countries: Spain, Romania and Denmark. The project will, through theatre forum and visual arts workshops, provide young students with information on the prevention of GBV but also with safe spaces where to discuss its cultural and social aspects. Through targeted seminars and trainings students will be trained to act as peer educators and teachers will increase their capacity to identify potential victims. ‘DECIDES Europe’ is co-funded by European Union’s Equality, Rights and Citizenship programme and is implemented by Interarts (Spain), Trabe (Spain), Transcena (Romania) and Kvindemuseet i Danmark (Denmark).
