On February 16th, a ceremony organized by the Delegation of the European Union to Barbados, the Eastern Caribbean States, the OECS and CARICOM/CARIFORUM took place in Bridgetown, Barbados, where the projects financed in the region by the European Union were presented. Among them is ‘DECIDES Caribbean – Cultural rights to promote behavioral changes and women’s empowerment against Domestic Violence in Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean’ whose presentation in the event fell on two local figures who have played a fundamental role in its development: Alexandrina Wong, president of Women Against Rape (WAR), and Marilyn Rice-Bowen, former president of the Caribbean Women’s Association (CARIWA), partner organizations of DECIDES Caribbean, together with Interarts and Advocates for Safe Parenthood (Saint Lucia) Inc. ( ASPIRE). Wong presented the objectives and main activities carried out in the framework of the project since its inception in 2016, as well as some of the products developed. Among them, the video resulted from an Audiovisual Workshop on domestic violence carried out with young people of a secondary school or the final report of the investigation on violence in Antigua and Barbuda.
