The artistic exhibition 1 IN 3, which focuses on gender-based violence, arrived in Barbados in December 2017 having visited several countries and continents, as part of the DECIDES CARIBBEAN project and the 16 Days of Activism campaign against gender-based violence. The Barbados exhibit , curated by the Art Program of the World Bank in Washington DC and sponsored by the European Union, Interarts, the World Bank and UN Women, helped to raise awareness about this social scourge through the powerful messages depicted in the images created by committed artists. This aim is fully in line with DECIDES CARIBBEAN, which seeks to contribute to reducing domestic violence in Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean by fostering behavioural changes in society and cooperation between the various relevant stakeholders. A brochure on the 1 IN 3 in Barbados exhibition is now available. DECIDES CARIBBEAN is co-funded by the European Commission through the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR), and implemented by Interarts, Caribbean Women’s Association (CARIWA), Advocates for Safe Parenthood (Saint Lucia) Inc. (ASPIRE) and Women Against Rape Inc. (WAR). (Work by Anna Gibson in the picture).
