September 4 the European Parliament (Brussels) will host a debate on the state of artistic freedom in Europe. Culture Action Europe and Freemuse organise this event, hosted by MEP Julie Ward, Socialists & Democrats. The debate will be based on the Freemuse’s report ‘The State of Artistic Freedom 2018’, which assesses the global state of artistic freedom and warns of the emergence of a new global culture of silencing others, where artistic expression is being shut down in every corner of the globe, including in the traditionally democratic West. Representatives from the European arts sector, such as IETM, RESEO or EUNIC, will attend the event. The registration is open until August 25.
