DECIDES Trinidad & Tobago, a project co-founded by the European Union within the framework of the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights, has just launched a Call for Proposals to support projects aiming at safeguarding and promoting the rights of the LGBTI community in Trinidad and Tobago. The overall objective of DECIDES Trinidad and Tobago is to contribute to reduce Gender Based Violence and LGBTI discrimination in the country by promoting societal cultural changes and enhancing the capacity of civil society organizations to counter them. In this framework, the call aims at a) enhancing the advocacy, lobbying policies and activities of local CSOs in the field of LGBTI rights; b) raising awareness on LGBTI rights and discrimination in the country; c) strengthening the knowledge and capacities of competent authorities on LGBTI issues; d) promoting dialogue among different groups and stakeholders including women’s organizations and organizations dealing with Gender Based Violence. DECIDES Trinidad and Tobago will support the beneficiaries of the grants during the implementation of their projects by providing capacity building and networking activities. The deadline for applications is 06 October 2017, at 21:00 (GMT). Decides Trinidad and Tobago is implemented by a consortium composed by Interarts, leader of the project; the Caribbean Association for Feminist Research and Action (CAFRA), an NGO based in Trinidad and Tobago; and Advocates for Safe Parenthood (ASPIRE), an NGO based in Saint Lucia.
