On 17 December the Association for European and International Cultural Development (ADCEI), together with some of its European partners (among which Interarts) delivered a document to the European Commission that includes final recommendations on the role culture should have in future Europe. These recommendations, results of a yearlong participatory process with the civil society through regional meetings represent a synthesis of ideas people in Europe have on what should future European cultural policy look like. Some of these recommendations indicate that the European Commission should take culture into consideration in all of its actions in order to foster intercultural respect and promote diversity. Another recommendation states that all primary schools in Europe should introduce a new subject on European cultures. For more information, the synthesis document can be found at the following link. The second phase of the project will start in January 2010 with new European partners from Slovenia, Poland, Finland and Italy.
