Commissioned by the Youth Unit of the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency in cooperation with the European Commission, the Interarts Foundation is conducting this study that offers a panoramic view of the access of young people to culture in European countries, analysing the opportunities and obstacles that young people face in accessing different cultural activities, from the perspectives of both the consumers and the creators. The ultimate objective is to be able to recognise the real needs of this group and to facilitate the design of appropriate initiatives.
In May 2009 takes place in Interarts a workshop in which participated experts of the project, 9 of the 27 national correspondents, and as guests 3 European youth organizations. The opinions, observations and recommendations highlighted in this session pass to the final documents of this study.
After the publication of the final document, Interarts is invited to present this study at various international meetings such as the conference ''Promoting a creative generation'' held in Gothenburg in the framework of the Swedish Presidency of the European Union and the meeting of the Open Method of Coordination Working group on Education and Culture of the Council of Culture Ministers of the EU.
