With the participation of the Association des Métiers de la Musique du Senegal as local partner, in collaboration with the Asociación Multilateral and the financial support of the Spanish Agency of International Cooperation for Development (AECID), the Interarts Foundation is carrying out this project, which aims to reinforce the entrepreneurial capacities of artists and cultural agents in the Dakar region, as an essential element for social and human development, by organising training courses, establishing a cultural incubator, providing permanent professional guidance to artists and cultural agents, as well as awareness-raising activities involving local and international speakers and addressed to both the cultural sector and the larger public.
The official launch of the project took place in Dakar, at the beginning of July 2009, when the first group of cultural entrepreneurs present has received the diplomas for graduating the first training module, in the presence of the Ministry of Culture of Senegal, the Association des Métiers de la Musique du Senegal, Interarts, the Spanish Embassy in Senegal and AECID.
Within the training module, throughout March and April 2010, a course for women entrepreneurs was carried out in which the participants received training on the cultural field, project management and cultural marketing.
Moreover, during the first months of 2010 the areas of guidance and technical advice were strengthened. Within this second module it is worth noting the establishment of a documentation centre on project management and economics of culture, with a consultancy service that provides specialized publications on culture, cultural industries and cultural cooperation.
In May 2010, the project was invited to participate in the “Culture et Citoyenneté” forum, held in the framework of the 18th Edition of St.Louis Jazz Festival, Senegal.
