In November 2005 the conference Culture in the Euro-Mediterranean Space was held in Barcelona, organised by the Department of Culture of the Government of Catalonia and Interarts. The meeting included a workshop on cultural cooperation between cities in the Euro-Mediterranean space, organised by the Diputació de Barcelona. After this, the Diputació de Barcelona took the initiative of organising a new meeting focused more specifically on cultural cooperation between local authorities in the Mediterranean, to be held in 2007. Interarts collaborates on this initiative.
